Yoga to boost your immune system!

Cold and flu season has reached it's peak and we are all working to stay healthy this winter. Yoga helps with digestion, sleep, and stress, which are all essential for a healthy immune system. There are many yoga poses that help boost your immune system, but supported and inverted poses are the best. Physical movement keeps lymph flowing in the body, which picks up bacteria and viruses and filters them through your lymph nodes. Bridge pose is a great pose to strengthen your immune system by lifting your heart above your head.

Bridge pose: Lie on your back, bend your knees and walk your heels towards your sit bones. Reach your fingertips toward your heels. Inhale and begin to lift your hips up in the air. Be careful to keep the neck straight. Take 5 deep breaths. Exhale to roll the spine back to the ground. Hug the knees into the chest to release the low back. Repeat 2 more times.
